Ma már nem fürdünk bádogkádban
Bár a bádogosmesterséget már a 15. század elején ismerték Magyarországon, igazi pályafutása csak 400 évvel később, a 19. században kezdődött. A kispénzű parasztság igényeit szolgálta ki ez a mesterség, de ez nem jelenti azt, hogy a bádogosmunka igénytelen lett volna: mindig is jelen volt benne a kreativitás, az esztétikum iránti vonzalom. Háztartási felszereléseket és borászati edényeket készítettek a bádogosmesterek, majd amikor a 20. században a bádogosság a városokban is népszerű lett, a fürdőszobai felszerelések is horganyzott lemezből készültek.
Ahol a bádogosság fennmaradt, az az építés: az épületbádogos ma is létező foglalkozás. Persze ez a szakma is rengeteg változáson ment át, a szerszámok modernebbek lettek, és maguk a felhasznált alapanyagok is változtak.
Látható, hogy az iparosodás szelleme ezt a mesterséget sem hagyta érintetlenül: itt is követelmény lett a gyorsabb munka, az egyenletes minőség.
Ami azonban továbbra is jellemzi a bádogosmesterséget: a mai napig rengetegféle szerszámot használnak a mesterek. Fogók, kalapácsok, balos, jobbos, körkivágó ollók és számos más szerszám áll a bádogosok rendelkezésére, akik büszkék arra, hogy az építőiparban nekik van a legnagyobb és legspeciálisabb szerszámarzenáljuk.
